Re: VENDÉE GLOBE round the world race

another question to the icegate
is it ok how agades passes the icegate?
This boat did not have a point above the gate but the track is above the gate.

Re: VENDÉE GLOBE round the world race

Since he crossed the gate it's ok since it means that obviously he was north of it at one point of time. He crossed exactly at the limit but it's ok.

Re: VENDÉE GLOBE round the world race

Good Morning Maitai.
How do you Join or Add a Fixed Date&Time <Route> "Pink" from WP3-West (waypoint) to another location TO an existing <Route> "Blue" from the boat to WP3-West waypoint? The date for the start of the "Pink" route is within a minute of the end of the "Blue" route. These routes use the same waypoint WP3.

I would like to add these instructions to the current Autopilot instructions.

Re: VENDÉE GLOBE round the world race

Sorry i didn't quite get the question... you want to append a route to another? If yes why do you want to do that when there are many other ways to extend a route in much better way?

Re: VENDÉE GLOBE round the world race

Yes, that is what I wanted to do.

OK, what are the ways of extending a route? I am afraid I am in the dark about that feature. I've just been creating Routing, then convert to Route, then Simplify, Optimize, check VLM-VMG, apply, Autopilot Tab, then Load Automatically, then send orders.

I've been using a route to send instructions to the boat's autopilot. In order to command the boat path, I have to have a Route that I like. How else is there to do it?

Re: VENDÉE GLOBE round the world race

I guess I have to learn how to "Drive" the boat to a waypoint while the boat is on VLM-VMG? Or I have to lean how to extend a route and send that part to the autopilot?

By the way, is it normal for a Route that has been selected to follow the boat, to have to have waypoints deleted as the boat moves past that point?

Re: VENDÉE GLOBE round the world race

There is an option for that, if it's the active route (ie it contains the active vlm-wp). But as you can figure out it's impossible to guess that you have passed a WP on a non-active route.

Re: VENDÉE GLOBE round the world race

Ok, so the waypoints that the boat has passed (that cause a crazy tail route) are from "Non-active" routes. I can obviously delete those with no problem and can also use the cursor area tool and right click to delete multiple POI/waypoints on that non-active route while being careful not to affect the active route.

I have managed to add a POI to the active route. It always seems to want to add somewhere in the middle depending on the "Sequence Number for the Route".

IN an ACTIVE Route with the VLM-VMG checked.

To Add a POI to a route: Put your cursor on the Route where you want the new POI. Right click and pick "Place a new mark". The Mark Dialogue box comes up. To have this mark become part of the route, select the Route name from the dropdown, an pick the sequence number [I can't seen to get this to work right, the POI is always in the wrong order]

To Edit a POI in a route: Highlight the POI Green Box with the cursor, right click and Pick Edit. The typical Mark dialogue box comes up. I checked not simplifiable because I don't want it to Move (I need to pass the WP3 properly.

It is not clear when a New POI in a route will show up as a Green box or not. They all seem to be hidden even though Not Simplifiable is checked and Hide Intermediate POI is unchecked.

Re: VENDÉE GLOBE round the world race

This seems to work:
1. Create a Route Make sure the route checked Pois numbered sequentially.
2. Create POI-1, POI-2, POI-3, POI-4 numbered.
3. Right click on each POI select the new route.
4. Go into the new route and see the POI's and the interval Poi's under <Route> Dialogue box "Route Detail" tab.
5. Move the POI-# around by pressing "Shift"+ Right Mouse button. Release Right Mouse button first to place POI in new location. The intermediate points of the route is redrawn optimized.
