Re: "v" corrections GHA

Just followed the link to the almanac and immediately realise there is a negative v correction for Jupiter. Previously I have only read about a possible negative v correction for Venus.

Something new every day!

Re: "v" corrections GHA

Mike,
I miss-stated in a previous post that there was a "v" correction for Aries. There is no "v" correction for Aries. The GHA is acquired from the increments table without an adjustment, just like the Sun (in the NA).

No offend but what kind of almanac you have. Are you sure that it is negative V. For next three days for Jupiter "v" is +2'.5 and "d" is +0'.0. on the top of page you have, next to each planet name, something like Venus -4.0, Mars +1.1, Jupiter -2.2 Saturn +0.6. those are the magnitudes not "v" od "d". v or d are found on the bottom of almanac.

Re: "v" corrections GHA

Mike,
Seaward n42 is correct. The only "navigational" planet which can have a negative correction is Venus.
This is because Venus is between the Earth and the Sun, and there is a phenomenon known as Retrograde Motion, which is the apparent "backwards"movement of the planet against the sky as observed from Earth. Best to google it.

Thanks for replies,

The mistake ref Jupiter was a straightforward case of brain failing to engage before posting. Happened before and am sure will happen again!.
