To the Arctic

Hi I am new to the forum and could use some advice. I spent 12 yes in the merchants and have desired its time to get back to some serious sailing. This time just for me. During my pro time sailing the world one of my founest memories was steaming the north Atlantic's Arctic up past the Shetlands. I no this is the wrong time to go but am setting for next summer lots to do until then. Has any one ever rested the northern cut up above Canada to the pole I could use your advice on best time and route charting profit ions and such thanks

A number of boats turned back this year. Some were trapped for a time, don't know if they got out or not. Google "Northwest Passage" and you will get lots of information.

Wow I new from past expereance on ships of great length the pass was treturous .the ships I sailed before were big enough you no. But I believe in the sea and before I take this trip I hope I am well prepared thanks for the info.

Jimmy Cornell had a new boat built to do the NW Passage this yr. He gave up and headed south to the boat show">Annapolis Boat Show instead. Here is a link to his blog. He has some information in his early blogs about books he used to inform himself of the journey.

Well you hit it right on the nail there my friend when it comes to a challenge in my younger years I had no since. You can believe though when I am able the weathers right and I am well prepared. I have got to try at least once. I had spent several years above 66 and have seen the pack itself. Its just something in the future I have to do .I thank you for your help I will put it to good use.
