Stuck in the middle.

Hello All, I'm new to the forum and also new to boating sorta.
I've spent my life on land and putting around on wave runners and small bass boats on a lake close to where i live here in PA. as i start this process
of learning and gaining more knowledge. I'd first like to ask a question to start off.

Now living in the lower middle of Pennsylvania, and only 1hr 30min from Pittsburgh i realize that i could possibly dock a boat at or close to the burgh
and travel down the loop to the gulf coast, however to my question.
is it possible and has anyone traveled from philly to the ICW ?
or closer inland?

Easier to buy a boat in Florida, keep it there and drive!

Re: Stuck in the middle.

Sure you can, easy-peasy. The Delaware river empties into the Delaware Bay. Just south of Newcastle you catch the C&D canal, which puts you in the Chesapeake. Sail south down the Chesapeake to the Elizabeth river in Norfolk and you’ll find mile marker 1 of the ICW. Avoid the aircraft carriers to port.

Re: Stuck in the middle.

Not a bad run down the Delaware past Cape May and then off shore cutting in to the ICW when convenient.

There's a large freshwater lake closer to you, in Greentown. Might that be an option?

Re: Stuck in the middle.

I suspect there are several Native Americans who have done it. Maybe not with a motor.
