Re: St Petersberg .. Pass a Grill channel

Also, be aware of the shoaling on both sides of the ICW in Boca Ciega bay. If you do enter from the south under Pinellas Bayway bridge , favor the south shore once past the bridge and pass close off of the sea wall for Isla Del Sol marina.

The girls make a great grouper sandwich at the Maximo Seafood Shack and good fresh fish too!

Re: St Petersberg .. Pass a Grill channel

Thanks all for the further comments..

Considering options, not to clever to put myself in a Marina that may really limit access time, maybe only a few hours each day, if the weathers right ?
I'll check a little further at other locations.

St Petersberg .. Pass a Grill channel

Coming from St Pete muni - the shortest route sends you under 2 fixed bridges (Meisner and Bayway) and 1 bascule (structure e).

The longest route (skyway to johns pass) puts you through 3 bascule bridges (johns pass, treasure island and Corey causeway).

I assume your cats draft is fairly shallow, and therefore depth will be no issue if you decide to come in the passagrille pass. You can maintain 6' depths or more south of the pass and along the beach at shell key between passagrille and Bunces pass. Bunces pass is now navigable for boats with less than 5' draft.

Re: St Petersberg .. Pass a Grill channel

It does seem like the Johns Pass does offer another option ... Anyone have any other experience to add..on the Johns pass to Maximo route ?

Again thanks for the feedback

Re: St Petersberg .. Pass a Grill channel

Thanks all for the feedback... Toke the cautious route and easier...

Moved up to Tampa at Marjorie Park.. Nice slips, some current to deal with but coming from Savannah no real issue.

Just takes a while to get out..

Re: St Petersberg .. Pass a Grill channel

There are some great restaurants on Davis Islands. Watch out for planes landing at the local airport and the cruise ships in the channel. Lots of racing and cruising and socializing at the DIYC.
