South Pacific Charts Recommended

Greetings:

I would appreciate receiving recommendations for "essential" paper charts for the South Pacific: Panama and Columbia coasts to New Zealand.

Hi Doug, you did not mention from where you are starting out. I am based in Florida and plan on the same route starting in Dec.
Assuming you already have the charts you need to get to Panama already, the following are available from Bellingham in 2/3 size in black and white for the route you mention.
Planning portfolio (small scale charts:
WO7 - Pacific Ocean passage maker (24 charts)

Regional folios
240- Panama Columbia (30 charts)
200- Galápagos Islands (20 charts)
800- Marquesas and most of SP island (36 charts)
810- Vanuatu New Caledonia ( 20 charts)
705- East North East Australia (63 Charts)
Good luck on your voyage
Gert

Re: South Pacific Charts Recommended

Hi Gert,
Thanks for this. My boat presently is in Cartagena, and I intend to transit the Canal in January. Do you happen to know if the Bellingham charts you identify (series 800 and 810) include the French charts of their territories? From another thread, they too are recommended.

Cheers,
Douglas McLean

NZ charts are free to download from NZ HO. Tey also cover some S Pacific, and some S Pacific Islands (e.g. Tonga). Well worth a look and download.

Re: South Pacific Charts Recommended

Hi Douglas,
The 800 and 810 folio covers the lot from the Marquesas to Vanuatu.
We will be at the Shelter Bay Marina end of December to prepare for the canal transit and on to Galápagos early January. If you see "Wind of Change" (Lagoon450) that will be us.
Fair Winds,
Gert

Thanks Gert, that's good to know. I expect to be there and transit at about the same time. My boat is a Valiant 42--Gillean--Madison, Wisconsin. My e-mail is douglasleemclean at aol dot com. Let's stay in touch.
