Nor is the even older non-touch Zeus Z8 at the nav table affected.

I have the Zeus T12 and it IS affected by this issue. I had updated with the first rollover patch in January to get correct time and date back but after April 5, satellite signal was not being received. Called B&G and they sent me a R1 version of the software so I could roll back my system. This worked as a temporary fix to provide coordinates, of course time and date are off again.

I was told that the engineers thought that the second rollover was corrected in the patch from January, but found out they were wrong and they are working on a fix. Timing? No idea.

What irks me is that this rollover should come as no surprise to anyone.
Even if not planned for by the chip supplier, Navico should have made provision for a "fix" regardless. One of the reasons I installed Navico, as opposed to Garmin, was that Navico supposedly supported legacy equipment.

I hope the heat from disgruntled owners forces them to address this quickly, lest their reputation suffers further.

Should have gone with Furuno!
And the funny thing is Garmin's work just fine. Even many of the slightly older handhelds.

I saw a Garmin statement on the rollover basically saying they were of course aware of it, and took it into account in their product design/software.

I'm happy enough with my Simrad gear, just not the company itself.

Visit the Simrad website and do a search for NSS8 and it's as if the product never existed. There's a NSS7 and NSS9 but no NSS8. I know they made one because I have it.

Similarly, like I've mentioned in the thread earlier, the only update for the NSS8 that I can find is one from 2014. Can anyone point me to the webpage where these newer (broken) updates were downloaded from? I'm keen to see the changelogs.

I've noticed that the US site is different than other sites (I guess I've really only looked at their European site) but here's how to get to the download page that will allow you to d/l the V3.0 revision 1 software we were all using before the Nov 18 time issue popped up that was 'solved' with revision 2 (which of course failed the gps rollover)

Main site ...
https://www.simrad-yachting.com/
... select Help & Support, landing you here ...

... then select Manuals & Software Updates, landing you here ...

... use the drop down to select NSS ... and the usable (lat/long, no time, V3 rev 1) software update is at the bottom.

Re: SIMRAD NSS post GPS rollover update - wrong file?

Thanks, now I know where to look in future. Strange though the page has absolutely no information on the update. No change log, or problems it's supposed to solve (make worse). Very weird way to conduct software updates.

Re: SIMRAD NSS post GPS rollover update - wrong file?

I have the same year 2099 bug with my Maretron GPS200. They are still calling it an "isolated case" but before they could "not replicate it". BS IMHO so now that it gets to a tech we'll see what happens.

My Furuno GP33 is okay, as is my Vesper XB8000. I guess buying a Garmin sensor would make sense.

Re: SIMRAD NSS post GPS rollover update - wrong file?

I just received notification this morning from B&G that they have released update to address the rollover issue on their older units.

I haven't installed yet but fingers are crossed.

Re: SIMRAD NSS post GPS rollover update - wrong file?

SIMRAD notification email arrived at 1054Z announcing they have posted V3 Rev 4 .... installed this morning. Works on my pre-evo NSS12.

Follow the usual path to the update, dated 9 April
SIMRAD home page (www.simrad-yachting.com) > Help & Support > Manual & Software Updates > Select NSS from the drop down > Update is at the bottom.

Patch seems to work. I now have both correct time and location information. What neat capabilities for a chartplotter!

Re: SIMRAD NSS post GPS rollover update - wrong file?

There's a PDF file that comes with the update that describes how to install it.

There's also a description on the download page.

Interestingly they're different from each other.

Presumably either one would work?

Anyway it's good to see they've responded quickly this time.

Simrad tech assist guy also told me an external antenna will fix the “No GPS fix” error message. Just try finding an antenna in short order!

Re: SIMRAD NSS post GPS rollover update - wrong file?

Yeah! Thank you cruising cat for publishing the link to the update file. I just downloaded the V4 and installed in my NSS8 and I now have my coordinates back. If only Simrad had let me know it was available like I requested of them. I’ve been on the move for three days since the rollover issue occurred last weekend. Ended up buying an iPad and Navionics software so I had a GPS as I head north. Glad the lack of a GPS fix didn’t occur as I was crossing from the Bahamas to Florida! Damn dangerous.

I didn't realize that it is the internal GPS which we are talking about, which I don't use.

I guess my unit must also be affected. It works fine with the external GNSS receiver (Simrad GS25), but I like to have the internal one as a backup, so I guess I'll need to install the patch.

Any update from Maretron? I have the same problem with our GPS200.
