pirate Sailing through the Bahamas to St Thomas

Hi I will be sailing with my family, children, 2 cats, this fall down the East Coast via the ICW. We are in no rush and wish to land in st John US VI. Suggestions for some good routs, island hoping adventures, from Florida into the Bahamas, and or other islands to St. Thomas? Thanks.

Re: Sailing through the Bahamas to St Thomas

Greetings and welcome aboard the CF, Salty East.

Turn left out of Florida, then right out of the Bahamas.

Get a copy of Bruce Van Sant's Gentlemen's Guide to Passages South. It explains that route in detail. But it is a tedious route. You either bash to windward or you wait and wait for the right winds.

What David said. It is not nearly as easy as it looks like it should be, when you just look at the route on a map.
