Re: sailing from west palm to bahamas

well its a +/- 12 hour crossing depending on boat size and wind speed... what time do you want to arrive?

Greetings and welcome aboard the CF, gayleandpeter.

Depending upon your speed, you might depart at (or prior to) dawn. It’s about 55 miles from W. Palm to Settlement Point (West End) Grand Bahama. Crossing the Gulf Stream, you'll have to vector about 20 deg.of Southing to the direct course.

Re: sailing from west palm to bahamas

you don't say where in the Bahamas you want to go. If headed for Nassau you leave at a different time than if your heading for the Abacos. If your planning on crossing the flats by entering Indian Cay Channel you want to get there in daylight to read the bottom which means leaving WPB around 3:00AM. Gord's advice is always good. Welcome aboard!
All the best
