Sailing from Dania Beach, FL to Port St Joe, Fl

I'm planning to sail a Leopard 40 cat from Dania Beach, Fl to her new home port at Port St Joe, Fl sometime mid- to late August of this year. I would appreciate course/route suggestions from those who have made such a trip themselves. (Apparently the Okeechobee Waterway is out because of the Leopard's 63' 10" mast height.)

While the focus of my question is on the best route to take, I would also be grateful for any other bits of knowledge, wisdom, experience you may care to share (aside from the fact that trying to make this trek in the middle of hurricane season is probably not very good timing. <smile>)
