S63 User Permits

I am a little confused as to how S63 chart user permits work. I was considering using the PolarView software with charts bought from Chartworld. If I do that, will the charts be locked to a single computer? Will the charts be locked to PolarView or can I also use them with other software? Does anyone know of a simple explanation of how this all works from a user perspective? I have the 107 page specification of the S63 format, but it doesn't make things much clearer to me.

The charts you buy will be pretty much locked to a single computer (or, rather, a single user permit that has to be unique per "navigation system installation"). However:
1. Chartworld allows up to two different user permits to be used for the same profile and order. I.e. you can have the same charts used on up to two different computers.

2. There is a process by which user permit can be moved from one computer to another when using PolarView. It is available for users that wish (or have to) reinstall the product on another computer.

P.S. I am now on a "final stretch" of development for the next release, so I don't get a lot of time to read sailing forums, unfortunately. That said, questions sent by email usually get answered in less than 24 hours.

Thank you for taking the time to answer this. It seems that there are some decent options for backups if a computer crashes in the middle of nowhere.

Re: S63 User Permits

Is there any charts covering the Western Caribbean for Polar Navy available?
