Running GE2KAP on Linux and Mac

Recently had a problem with someone trying to run GE2KAP in a Virtualbox running Windows XP under a Linux Ubuntu host. The charts created from GE were garbage, basically they looked like the background .

I have had similar problem with others running on a Mac but was not able to resolve it because I don't have a Mac computer or a Linux one either.

So I decided to try to recreate the problem by installing VirtualBox on my Windows 10 system and run XP in it and install GE2KAP and Google Earth. Low and behold I got the same problem.
So far I have not been able to find a fix the Google Earth problem BUT I found that charts created from SasPlanet are fine. Even tiling and following a path.

I have opened this thread to document how to how to install GE2KAP and SasPlanet on and XP client of Virtual box running under any host operating system.

You will need 5 things:
1. VirtualBox for your system
2. A windows operating system We have a free one.
3. oorexx
4. GE2KAP.V26.0.0.3
5. SasPlanet

First get the VirtualBox for your operating system from here:

Then follow these instructions to get it running:

I have not been able to get GE2KAP to run with GE. I am running Parallels v13 on a MacBook running High Sierra. GE2KAP fails with the message:



Perhaps SASPlanet will work. I would appreciate any pointers you might have.

That message indicates you are running a new version of GE or GE Pro which no longer has the API that GE2KAP needs. You can try an older version but first you must uninstall the new version then restart Windows (very important) then install the old version. Here is a link to the old version:

But I have never been able to get GE working under VirtualBox maybe Parallels will do better, let us know. SasPlanet did work well under VirtualBox.

Sorry for the tardy reply. You are correct in that even with the olde GE version, the chickens refuse to lay. I am working towards installing SASplanet, and will report here.

If you look at thr Help(F1) SAPlanet section, it tells you where to get a copy of Sasplanet from my website that is all setup and is is at the latest nightly level. Makes it easy to install.
