Route and Marina Advice Miami to Key West

I am looking for advice on route and marinas sailing from Miami to Key West next week. The vessel is a 43' sailboat that draws 5'7" with a 60' mast. Thanks!

Re: Route and Marina Advice Miami to Key West

Use active captain for a great selection of anchorages, We have anchored near, Rodriguez, Tavernier, and Indian key , further SW, long key bight has an anchorage, Boot key in marathon has several marinas and anchoring spots , little palm island area has several anchorages, then you are in Key West.
With your draft the Bayside would be tough. So on ocean side your choices are Hawks channel if you want to stay close to shore, or with the winds you could do an overnighter offshore beyond the reef and make it pretty fast. With these winds expected it could be a little rough to really enjoy the keys. Key west is enjoyable no matter what! Are you North or South of the Julia Tuttle causeway? If North of it, With your mast height you would have to go out the Hollywood, FT Lauderdale cut, you cannot fit under the Julia Tuttle bridge, 55' fits if you have a very flexible antenna lol,, going out any of the cuts can be very very rough with high east winds and an opposing tides, I have seen the huge tug boats take waves completely over the top. Not bad once out turn to starboard and you are on your way.
