Regarding WhatStar

The late William F. Buckley Jr., in Wind Fall, The End of an Affair devoted a chapter to commenting on, describing the above mentioned program. From his comments, it sounded like a very handy program, though one problem with it seemed to be that it's "almanac" did not go beyond 1989.

In any case, nobody seems to have any information re this program, at least nobody I've contacted, including Ken Gebhardt of Celestaire, therefore this inquiry. Does anyone here know anything about What Star?

Any information, comments, data would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Alan

I'm not surprised, since the sailing trip that forms the main subject of this book took place in 1990.

Gord:

The trip did take place some years back. Sailing goes back a lot longer than that. People are still at it too.

As to the program's "almanac" not going past 1989, I suppose that it could have been extended. Seems odd that the program, appears to have dropped completely out of sight though. Perhaps the short lived span of the "almanac" could be a reason. Who knows.
