pirate Ponce de Leon Inlet

Good afternoon happy sailors!

I'm wondering if anyone knows a good anchorage near this inlet. We are planning a sail down from St. Augustine and figuring on a 9-11 hour sail south (we may luck out with these North East winds however). We were going to check out Matanzas Inlet but local TowBoat US knowledge says NO WAY, NOT Navigable.

Sailing on Sat the 26th of October 13.

Thanks!

Rockhouse Creek is a good anchorage near Ponce.

I like Rockhouse Creek too. Get local knowledge from the Coast Guard Station or TowBoatUS for the inlet -- they move the buoys all the time and the shoals shift constantly. Have a great sail!

Definitely NOT Matanzas. local Daytona boats use Rockhouse as weekend picnic and swim/fish anchorage

otherwise come back a bit north inside the ICW to Daytona where there are plenty of spots around including in front of where we live, just north of Seabreeze Bridge, Halifax Harbor marina is good For overnighting too and usually has plenty of space and some boats anchor south of there outside about half a mile also closer to Ponce some stop temporarily just out of the channel above Dunlawton Bridge in Port Orange

Re: Ponce de Leon Inlet

If you're going all the way to Daytona (and it does seem a long haul from Ponce especially if the current is against you) the best anchorage there is just south and east of Memorial Bridge.
