I just finished an RYA day skipper shore based course, run by Centaur sailing in the UK. It had 13 modules and was pretty comprehensive, and very good value.

Where are you? Have you started any certification? Do you wish to stay with that organization?

I haven't started with any organization, I'm in Afghanistan, live in Thailand, my boat's in Savannah Ga. and have a cabin in Colorado, Ha, so I'm pretty stretched, hope to get out from this mess within the next 6 months, been here 5 years, it's enough, coming back to the states in July to move my boat, I want to start, now, learning as much as I can about Navigation, can find anything anywhere on land with a Topo map and compass, but Nautical Navigation is a different thing altogether , have a lot to learn, want to be able to navigate proficiently with out the aid of electronics, although I will have ample electronics on board. Suggestions, recommendations, please.

Sam

I would stay with an American certifying organization. ASA and NauticEd both have manuals and CDs.

Re: On-Line Navigation Course ?

Navigation is sort of navigation, whether it be land, sea or air. Of course the land doesn't move on you like the air and sea does, but your way ahead of most already
