NJ ICW Atlantic City to Cape May

Trying to get south on a 40’ trawler with a 3’8” draft and a 20’ air draft... we have the option to go inside from Atlantic City to Cape May and I’m considering it with the current sea state.

It looks like there would be a couple trouble spots ( Peck Bay and Ludlum Bay) and the current tide schedule would mean traversing those areas near low tide (high is at sunrise, next high is after sunset.)

Any advice on the depth maintenance in these areas would be greatly appreciated.

We used the NJ ICW from Atlantic City north this past summer just for the experience . We found many spots with either very narrow channels or shoaling not represented on the chart. In many places the deeper water tightly followed the channel markers. With your draft you should be ok, based on my very limited experience in those marshes.

If you like observing wildlife keep your binoculars handy.
