Yes indeed, that's a good point. Why would I need to position my boat to 0.1% of its length, or 0.3% of its width?

Still, it would make a great speedometer.

For a speedometer, what's wrong with dropping orange peel in the water by your bow and timing the seconds for it to reach the stern?

That and probably a few other advantages. Wouldn't mind having the feature on a GPS but wouldn't pay a whole lot extra to get it.
