Need some help with navigation

Young bloke in Sydney Australia looking to set sail for warmer winds and island palms in July next year. Need some urgent nav tuition. I don't have a huge budget as I'm putting it all into the boat. But any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Need some help with navigation

There are a number of courses you can do in Sydney. Eastsail runs one at Rushcutters Bay.

Yeah they are just pricey. I know a good chunk but just need some final pointers. Trying to put the funds into getting the boat ready with the right safety gear

Re: Need some help with navigation

The Volunteer Marine Rescue service conducts low cost courses, including navigation. For your purposes these would be ideal.

Not all branches conduct these courses, so depending on your location you may have to travel to one. Central Coast is one that does.

Although not specifically on navigation, another excellent and inexpensive resource is the book "How to Read a Nautical Chart" by Nigel Calder. It covers a lot more than the title would imply.

Re: Need some help with navigation

The first hit on denverdOn’s search, Advanced navigation courses - sailing schools Greece and the Greek islands , is an excellent free resource.
