Navman TRACKFISH and Raymarine ST 6001

Hello,

I have just bought a SO 35.
It came with a Navman Trackfish 6500 Chartplotter & Raymarine ST 6001 autopilot.

My quesetion is will these 2 instruments communicate with each other so that the autopilot will follow a course set on the chartplotter.

According to the autopilot manual when in the Auto mode I should be able to press track and the autopilot should then follow a route set on the GPS.

However when I try this nothing happens. Do I need to change settings on the equipment?
Unfortunately I have been unable to contact the previous owner for help.

Is there anyone here familiar with this equipment who can help out?

Best regards,

Ron

Yes, they will work together (Mine do). Call up the route on the plotter to activate it then press "Auto" on the autopilot and off you go. At least that's how mine works. My autopilot also works with my Raytheon plotter but I use the Trackfish because I can use the wide area charts on that one. If you need more info, let me know and I'll check the settings on my Trackfish next weekend and let you know what they are. James

I have just recieved an email from the previous owner and he says that he never had an NMEA cable installed. There are 2 connections coming out of the Navman. I guess one is the power supply and the other is the external antenna. There is an other socket which is not connected. I guess I will have to talk to an Electrician.
James thanks for the offer, it would be nice to know the correct settings for the Trackfish. Ron

Ron, I was not able to make notes of the settings this weekend, I'll try to get it done next weekend. Regards, James
