nav software and weather data

I've got the cmap chart system but I havn't bought any navigation software yet. I read an article in "ocean voyager" in regard to Nav software and weather data combined in most programs but some are much better than others.
This does sound like something I could use, any suggestions or recommendations.

39ft Power trimaran
All the aluminium arrives tomorrow with a full start next week.
I have two professional builders on an hourly rate. We should have the shell completed in 4-5 weeks.
This forum has been a great help
I will give a regular rundown on progress.

Hi beau, what type of cmap do you have? Is it the copied version on a cd typically called the 'russian charts' available from many cruisers, or is it a chip - if it's a chip then what version of CMap is it? Nt or Max or whatever?

I have used SOB or software on board (aussie designed and built) and it's great - probably one of the best I've used.

Cheers

I have CMap Max the chip for the east coast of Australia, authentic.

The article I read in "ocean voyager" stated that SOB does not support grib files at this time

GRIB overlays for SOB

According to Software On Board's features page, GRIB overlays are due out with the next major update. Interestingly, their site search engine finds a page discussing an alpha release of a GRIB viewer from July 2005, and the download is stil available.

I've sent a request to them asking when the next release is scheduled.
