Nav Challenge: trimaran from Georgian Bay to Penobscot Bay

I am looking at a trimaran up in Georgian Bay and thinking of buying it and bringing it back to Penobscot Bay in Maine. I'm trying to figure out if the Seaway or Erie Canal is the best route.

It looks like Erie Canal is about 1200 miles and Seaway is almost 2000.

I'm also curious about beam. vessel beam seems to be in the ballpark of 30 feet. It looks like the Erie Canal's limiting width is 45' but I am wonder what this means in practice with a large multihull. Anyone on here taken a beamy boat down the canal? Are you scraping the sides at times?

All of the seaway info I can pull says the max beam in locks is 26' but that seems crazy... Anyone know otherwise?

Anyone on here made it through the Eerie Canal in a wide beamed tri? Say over 30 feet beam?
