Nautical Almanac: United Staes version and British version

This year, for the first time, I bought the British version of the 2016 almanac rather than the American one, mainly because the postage of the latter (to Ireland) was nearly 50% of the cost of the almanac itself. Obviously both are identical in content but I miss the more technical and "seamanlike " look of the US volume with its orange cover cut flush with the pages and bearing only the title and the crest of the US naval observatory. The British one looks too "coffee table" with a hideous picture of the forward deck of a tanker on the cover. Moreover its increment and corrections tables are printed on paper of the same weight as the daily pages in contrast to the stiffer paper of the American one. The US volume is 25 x 17 x 2 cms and the other 30 x 21 x 2cms. This is no unimportant matter for the chart table of a small boat.

On the positive side, for the Brits, their almanac has a good 5 cms of blank scribble space at the foot of each page.

Okay, maybe I'm just a cranky old git who should be more grateful for these wonderful publications.
