Maxsea V 10.1.3.2 and Microsoft GPS

Hi Guys,
I am so happy to join this form, its really usefull...

Meanwhile i have got a problem with my Maxsea software.
It was working fine when it was connected to GPS through the network.

now i got a portable Microsoft USB GPS

1st: which name of instrument shall i choose?
2nd: when i use instrument GPS TRACK, i get Data starting with $ which means its fine but i dont get any position!
3rd: if i choose instrument NMEA 183, i get nothing even when i change to RMC instead of GLL, there is no any signal.

If somebody help me, i will appreciate that so much.

Also pls. if you can advice me from where can i download the latest free charts online?

Many thnks

Check the communications speed. The old setup was probably 4800bps, the new one is more likely 38400bps

Re: Maxsea V 10.1.3.2 and Microsoft GPS

I already checked it and found that the GPS was running on 9600 bps so I changed it to 4800 bps in orer to be the same as the Maxsea recommended.

My main problem also is which instrument type shall I choose?

My GPS is Microsoft USB GPS

It should be NMEA 0183. Are you sure you are using the right comm port?

I use this version of Maxsea and a USB gps dongle but not the microsoft one. I'm not on the boat at the moment so can't do any more checks but, if you are still having a problem next week, I should be able to help more as I'll be on my boat then.

Re: Maxsea V 10.1.3.2 and Microsoft GPS

hi again i choose the nmea 0183 and i checked the com port one time i adjusted it to port e and one time to 6 and i always adjust both on the same but there is no even any signal coming on the data. My usb exact tyme at the back is named pharos. By the way i downloade a chart plotter software and i used it with the same charts and usb gps and after adjusting the com port and the baud rate to 4800 and it worked fine. Only i really need the maxsea because its more better and have more tools.
