Re: Marine Traffic AIS-SAT - 1 ship location test

Hi,
Class B is tracked by satellite, but it is not picked up very frequently. I have a satellite account.
For example, the boat which was recently abandoned E of the Caribbean only had about 20 hits on the sat all the way across the Atlantic.

I don't think that the output power of class B is quite enough to give a solid satellite presence, but they are detected.

Thanks for the reply. What AIS transponder manufacturer and any special antenna configuration did you use??

It wasn't him. He was telling you about someone else.
