Maps of Chilean 'Fjords'

A Norwegian friend of mine,presently in Buenos Aires,is on his way around the world,the next leg around Cape Horn and up through the Chilean canals and 'fjords'.

He has very scant information of the Northern coast and fjords as follows:
The Canal Mesier, Canal Wide and a portion South in the fareway..
Meaning from Golfo de Pena in the North, 47.43.80S and 074.47.86W and down to 49.54.00S, and 074.21.00W and onwards to 52.14.00S and 073.41.00W, covering the inner passages. Several of his charts do not show any soundings.

I would be very grateful for any information as to where we could obtain electronic charts over the internet,preferrably .BSB,covering this area. Or otherwise,any raster format would do.

Do these help at all ? I could not open them as connection and Pc are pre Ark, but you could take a looksy.I would think they are not the newest charts for download.

Yes I am aware of your first link,but unfortunately the detailed innshore
charts I needed are not there.

Your link to the Chilean Marinha was great. They have an agent in Buenos Aires so my friend can contact them there.

Alternatively you should contact chart supplier providing Chilean charts.
I know that Chile has done some efforts in the past to bring their charts on the best standard, especially ENC.

i imagine this may have changed in the last 50 years, but having just read Hal Roths "Two Against Cape Horn", he says that water depths on the charts are given only for the main channels/route and not every little fjord, the govts way of saying they dont want you going certain places...

anyone know if this has changed?

It's still that way. There are still areas off the main channels that are 'white' (eg no soundings). In theory this is not a problem because your Zarpe will only allow you to travel the main channels. In actual practice, we cruisers do tend to explore a bit off the main channels, but there are kelp patches growing on anything less than 20' deep (except around fresh water run-off) so if you avoid the kelp you are good. Also the cruising guide now has pretty good sketch charts of most of the even slightly tricky areas.
