Making .KAP Maps for Android Marine Navigator and ORUX maps

Using your CM93 and GE2KAP you can create very detailed,colorful maps for the Android based Marine Navigator and OruxMaps navigation apps. The latest version of GE2KAP allows the automatic creation of tiled .kap maps of a large area.

OruxMaps requires a conversion of the .kap using their OruxMaps Desktop utility,done in a couple of minutes. After conversion to the OruxMaps format,the two resulting files are copied to the OruxMaps maps directory on your devices which is configurable to your choice.

Marine Navigator requires the .kap file to be copied to the BSB_ROOT directory from where it can be directly imported from Marine Navigator´s only selection menu.

Owing to the high resolution and smaller screens of the Android devices,the maps make an excellent display.

Yes, but this requires a non-Android machine to process. Is there any App that does the same job?

There is an app on play that will convert any bitmap into a kmz too. Very nice. But kmz will not play in MN (will it?).

For Marine Navigator you can just copy your existing .kap maps onto a pendrive and copy the content over to your tablet´s BSB_ROOT directory.

There is no OruxMaps Desktop app available as yet for the conversion of the .kap maps,but you could do the conversion at home and upload the OruxMaps files to your cloud drive for later access,ANYWHERE you have internet access. The sames goes of course also for all your .kap files. Perhaps your Marina has WiFi?

I keep all my OruxMaps and MarineNavigator maps on my Google cloud drive and only download to my tab as required to save RAM space. The same for Route .gpx files from my now comprehensible library. I use the ES File Explorer app which is the only file manager I know which can also transfer files between my tab and my cloud drive.

The FREE AutoAppOrganizer will handle this exchange automatically once you have installed your apps and files. Just delete the app or maps when no longer required and AutoAppOrganizer will let you click the app or maps directly on your cloud drive and install them in their original places.
You can even install your own choice of icons downloadable from GooglePlay. I have organized MINE like the attached.

It would be nice to have an App to either convert bitmaps into kaps or else convert kmz into kaps.

Then we could convert the image files into charts right on the tablet.

True Barney, but I think I would prefer to do that job on a PC at home on a winters night with nothing else to do..

The Marine Navigator .kap maps need no conversion,just importation from a pendrive.
