Lower Exumas to Florida

I am getting ready to leave the lower exumas
,Georgetown to be exact heading for Fort Lauderdale. Is there any reason I should considering a more southern route. I came here to Bimini and then I saw. I was just wondering the badges or disadvantages of the southern route

Re: lower exumas to Florida

We just left GT going back the normal route up the Exuma's. In the summer you stand a chance of getting slammed by the afternoon squalls that develop over Andros if you go up the west side. If we are in a hurry we cut across the south side of Nassau from about Hawksbill. I don't see where it would be that much faster unless you were already down in the Raggeds for instance. Biggest problem right now is there will be no wind next week. We are picking up a friend in Stainel Monday and dropping her in Nassau. Really hope the wind comes back by then as it has been a real pleasure sailing up here this week with no diesel use.

Depends so much on what you like. At Stainel the cave of course but it's a very nice snorkel around all three islands that stretch over towards the yacht club. It's a very pretty run through the back country if you go in at rat and back out at lee stocking (water color) got to go fireworks have started at Black Point!
