Looking for Help About Navtex Installation

Have just bought myself a Navtex and was wondering about antenna placement. I really don't want the ugly antenna on deck and it only comes with 7m of coaxial cable, so the mast is out too.

I was wondering if anyone has experience of how the reception would be, if I just mounted the antenna inside the boat. It is going into a plastic bath tub not a steel or aluminium hull.

TIA

Steve

GPS antenna under fiberglass

Talisker,

GPS antenna under fiberglass works fine. I did it two years ago with a standard Garmin antenna and it worked great.
I just used 3M ulta two face tape to bond it next to my chart plotter inside the helm fiberglass wiring area.

Navtex operates at quite low frequencies. Unlike VHF, height doesn't matter much. Stick it inside, up against the deck. Mine works fine.
