Linux Grib Viewer

There is a very good new gribviewer - zyGrib - available for download at zyGrib . The program is free software under Gnu GPL V3. There is both a Linux and a Windows version available. Mind you, you "only" get the source code for both ( not very common in the Windows world ). I have been playing around with the program a bit, and I'm impressed. Furthermore the program seems to be under rapid development, considering the pace of new versions.
Unfortunately the programs website is only in French, but once the program is installed you can change to an English version.

To compile the program follow the instructions in the "readme.txt" file below.This file is based on what I had to do to compile the program on Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron.(after some Googling).
I was thinking of attaching my binary, for cruisers not used to compiling.....but at 5.6 MB I hesitated.
If anyone needs it drop me a line and I'll mail it. It should work for any Ubuntu Hardy installation. Probably also for earlier Ubuntus/ other Linux distros as long as Qt4 is installed.

Thanks for the link, I just tested the software on Gentoo Linux and it compiled perfectly.
Looks very useful, I tried it with some free grib files from grib.us.

You can actually download grib files directly from zyGrib.
Click 7:th button from the far right - "Show whole map". This brings up a world map. Left click and drag to mark an area. Then click second button from the far right - "Download".

You should be alright with Suse & FreeBSD as long as you have QT4 installed. That might be the worst obstacle, as QT3 comes with most distros. The latest Utuntu had the advantage of having KDE4 as an alternative, and QT4 comes automatically with KDE4.

I only changed the makefile to fit Ubuntu. It all depends on exactly where the distro puts the diffrent QT4 files.

zyGrib now has compiled (ready to run) versions available for
Debian, Ubuntu and similar Linuxes, as well as for Windows.
Unless you are fluent in french let google translate the site for you.

I have zyGrib newest ver. 2.0.0 for WINDOWS installed on 4 different compis all running
XP Prof. + SP3 , and now on two of them the download-module is working and on the
two others it is nit working.
Do you have any ideas, I have been modifing securitysettings, but with no result,
any suggestions?
