iPad and Pacific Mexico Charts

We just got an iPad to use with navigation software for cruising Pacific Mexico and Central America. What is the best app and which are the best charts -- should we be going with iNavX and the Navionics charts? Are there alternatives that are better?

Re: iPad and Pacific Mexico Charts

I don't know from alternatives...I've used inav & xtraverse my iPad and am quite happy with this product. I'm currently in Sea of Cortez since sailing down from SoCal last November.

Ipad with inav & xtraverse is what I use as my primary chart plotter...concurrent with my paper charts and handheld gps. I recommend.

Other apps used include:aye-tides, windfinder & shipfinder.

I would second the iNav recommendation. I have used it a lot in the Puerto Vallarta to Barra area and it is great. Also Aye-Tides was real good and they work togather well.

I have used the Navioncs APP for the past 3 years and it just keeps getting better. They have added a lot of impovments over this time fram. By allowing me to down load the area I need it doesn't take up alot of extra memory. The charts i have used are dead on. Have a Great Summer......

Re: iPad and Pacific Mexico Charts

Thanks everyone.

I've read about the Blue Latitude Press electronic charts that are taken from the soundings that Sean and Heather did for their Sea of Cortez and Pacific Mexico guide books. Anyone had any experience with those versus Navionics? (Navionics on Raymarine is sometimes off by as much as a mile south of PV due to the data coming from ancient surveys...).
