Inland River Maps

Sorry if this is a newbie question, but what is the best free resource for maps of inland waterways?

Basically, I am interested in buying my first boat located in Pittsburgh, PA and wondering if it is possible to transport it by water to Annapolis, MD. It is a powerboat with a 4' draft. Does anybody know if this is even possible?

Thanks!

Re: Inland River Maps

The maps of the inland rivers is from the US Army Corps of Engineers.

You can transport your boat by water, but plan on a wonderful, multi-month voyage: Down the Ohio to the Kentucky Lakes; the Tennessee and Tombigbee Waterway to Mobile; the Gulf to Ft. Myers and across Florida on the Okeechobee Waterway (or around the outside to Key West), then up the Atlantic ICW to the Chesapeake Bay.

If only they had kept up on that C&O Canal, it might have taken you only a few days! Have fun!

Damn, that's what I was afraid of...

If it's impossible to transport by water on the short route, how much should I expect to pay for a competitive overland hauling bid? It's a 40' Trojan Aft Cabin.

Re: Inland River Maps

Being a very wide load, it's bound to be "many thousands" of dollars. Make sure you know the weight as carried and shop around. If you haven't bought it yet, they've got lots of boats over here on the east coast, too! Good luck!
