iNavx not compatible with iPad Pro and Navionics Charts

If you have iNavx and Navionics charts, don't buy an iPad Pro. Crashes every five minutes. Unusable and dangerous at critical moments.

I wrote to Navx and they blamed Navionics for the "well known" problem. Then proceeded to explain that they have engineers working night and day to solve. I suggested that they write to all Ipad Pro owners and/or withdraw the product from Apple store until fixed. Nope!! They'd rather keep us suckers buying their known faulty product.

I have Navionics on my IPad Pro ..... and it works awesome. Never any issues

Do you have any details?

Was it ever working?

Which was installed first?

iNavX or Navionics ?

Have tried reloading the applications?

The issue affects iNavx 5.09 when running on iPad Pro IOS 10.3.2 (both latest versions as at 7/17). I am using Navionics Mediterranean 24G.

The system will crash repeatedly and is totally unusable.

INavx are well aware of the issue, yet do not warn their customers NOT to update.

This from iNavx customer service;

"This sounds like a problem specific to the iPad Pro using Navionics charts in iNavX. We've determined it's a memory management issue with the Navionics charts that only effects iPad Pros. We are waiting for Navionics to update their software. In the meantime, one possible work around is to not overload the Navionics chart by doing too much scrolling and zooming in a fast fashion. If you moves a little slower the Navionics charts should handle it ok.

I apologize for this inconvenience. "

So basically iNavx are saying you cannot use the program while we "wait for Navionics to update their software". Slow zooming and panning doesn't help at all. Hmmmmm.

August 23 version of US charts improved situation noticeably, but still not perfect. Just much more usable.

Yes, I have BlueChart and it shows depth. It would be a bit of a major omission if it didn't....

I have both Garmin and Navionics on my IPad Pro.
I prefer the Garmin Blue Charts, largely because they have active Capt integrated, and now since Garmin owns Active Capt, I'd have to assume they will have the best integration.
The Garmin charts are I believe Explorer based, and better in the Bahamas or so I have been told

Hasn’t crashed for me either. Before I think it would have by now. Fingers crossed. I am using August 2017 version of Navionics charts.
