Importing Routes

I am using OpenCPN with the wonderful Visitmyharbour raster charts, for planning. With a high res monitor this is a very decent substitute for paper.

Now the only thing is if I construct a route on this system, I would love to be able to transfer it electronically to my B&G Zeus normal nav system, but I'm struggling to figure out how to do it.

The Zeus manual tells how to export routes, in GPX format, but is silent about importing them.

Since the "Send to GPS" function of O seems to not be supported in Navico plotters, I suppose that routes and waypoints should be exported as GPX files, and should be imported somehow into the plotter.

Anyone have experience? Is it possible?

Re: Importing Routes

No one importing routes into a Navico plotter via GPX? I'm surprised; I would have thought this to be fairly common practice.

Importing Routes

Sorry Dockhead, didn't see this until just now. I do my routing in Coastal Explorer and then transfer the routes to the Zeus2 by exporting to .gpx on a micro SD card and plugging the SD card into the chartplotter. Then you go into the main menu, scroll down to Files, select the SD card and select the .gpx you want to import. The system then asks if you are sure you want to import the file, hit Yes and it imports the route and shows up in the list of Routes on the chartplotter.

This from memory, a detail or two might be off but it is very straightforward and literally takes less than a minute... Hope this helps.

Ha; that's what I was hoping!

Not in the manual for some reason, and I'm off the boat at the moment.

Thanks!

Re: Importing Routes

A big THANK YOU to Pyxis156 for this tip.

I have been planning routes on OpenCPN and transferring them to my main navigation system now for the whole way from the UK to the Gulf of Finland. It works great!! It has greatly simplified passage planning.
