Hi, advice for good Hudson River anchorages for 5.5' draft sailboat returning from an

Long time no write. The Meritaten had a great year getting to and staying in the Med! Alas she must return to Toronto, departing the 79th St Boat Basin in Manhattan, tomorrow.

Who can suggest decent, deep, inexpensive (!!!) and most importantly, nice riverside stops? We'll turn west at Troy.

Many thanks!

Yog

There are lots of spots to anchor going up the Hudson. Upper Nyack. Haverstraw. West Point. Just south of Kingston on the West Bank. On the East bank just off Catskill Creek . And there are a few boat clubs that take transients. The Poughkeepsie Y.C. has moorings. (very deep here, no anchoring but you can anchor in a little cove on the west bank.) Just check your chart and head for a shallow spot.

H. riv. with deep and firm mud will hold any craft using a cinderblock!!! As stated above, just check charts and depth. Most coves off the main channel have water that rapidly shoals.. so pick your depth and swing with the reversing tide.

Even roncas will hold with 2/1 scope!………sorry , couldn't resist.

……………………..luv you all…mike……Houdini will be in Block Is.for race week………
