GRIB US, or UGRIB Replacement

It appears that many of us have been using UGrib for years, but suddenly find it unavailable (anyone know why?). Does anyone have a suggestion for a Windows compatible replacement that is as easy to use and free?

Thanks in advance,
David

I went to them during one of the UG outages. I still use both, but have not recently had occasion to use UG. If it's going down frequently, it seems likely a maintenance issue, as it has always returned, eventually, making the outage look like a problem on my end - but this and other threads show that it's not me...

Same error as me.. Thats a DNS error.. They most likely didn't renew a domain name or update a DNS server when an IP changed..

The openCPN grib viewer is excellent and compatible with most gribs you can download from anywhere. The new version also now supports grib2. I use saildocs to source them.

Under options choose English as your language.

I registered years ago.

Re: GRIB US, or UGRIB Replacement

Thanks for taking the time to get back to me with this one guys. I am investigating options. Have also since found Passage Weather. Interested in how those with experience compare this to Zygrib

Re: GRIB US, or UGRIB Replacement

So how do I download files from Passage Weather?

All I found there is a paid service on otherwise freely available data.

I must be clicking on the wrong links.

PLS help.

I think they might mean Predict Wind... They have Gribs and a free viewer here..

Free GRIB Viewer - PredictWind.com

Of course you could still view the gribs in OpenCPN as I prefer to do.
