GPS on iPad 2

Does anyone use Imray charts (or any other app) with iPad 2 wifi? I have just bid on a Bluetooth GPS receiver that I'm hoping will give my iPad GPS facility - will it? Thanks, Simon

Navionics with a bad elf GPS receiver here and works like a charm. Only bitch I have is the power consumption on the ipad with the screen on all the time.

NZGrant - Just a suggestion - make sure all of your other app's are turned off when using your iPad with Navionics running. Just double click the big button on the iPad and highlight anyone of the app's that are open. You can them click on the red minus sign and this will close the app's that are open and will give you more battery life (hopefully)....

Re: GPS on iPad 2

Hi Simon,

I use the GNS 1000 GPS receiver with Imray charts, works perfect (as it does with Navionics). Battery life around 9 hours non stop.

IPAD 2 wifi has no GPS module; youi need an IPAD with 3G for the GPS module.

Re: GPS on iPad 2

You don't need an ipad with build in GPS... A stand alone gps often works more precise...as it also appears in tests/reviews. I have both but prefer the stand alone (bluetooth) connected gps.

I gave up on the iPad. We used my wife's Samsung with built in GPS. It worked great, except in sunny weather you could barely see the screen. Thanks.
