Re: Google Earth to BSB / KAP

OK I have uploaded a new copy and was able to download onto both Windows 8 and Win7 and installed OK. They both gave a warning about running it as it has not been downloaded very much but just do the More Actions...Run Anyway .

Please try again: www.gdayii.ca/Downloads/GE2KAP.msi

Re: Google Earth to BSB / KAP

Also, just to let you know: the first time you run GE2KAP.exe, it will check if all the prereqs are installed first by running Check.rex then it will run GE2KAP.rex. Both ask you to select the language. Since that only happens the first time, it shouldn't be a big deal.

Re: Google Earth to BSB / KAP

Paul,

I think what is happening is that the .msi extension is being opened and displayed instead of being saved.

Viking Sailor,

Are you still having trouble downloading? Has anyone else been able to download it.

Maybe you should try just going here: www.gdayii.ca/Downloads
then click on the GE2KAP.msi (not the GE2KAP.zip)

Paul,

Sorry, but when I select the .msi file from the list, it still tries to display the file instead of downloading it.

Re: Google Earth to BSB / KAP

If it is a 13.4MB file, then I downloaded it successfully.

BTW, I change msi to exe, correct?

Re: Google Earth to BSB / KAP

Paul,

Right clicked the .msi file and did a "save link as..." to my download directory. And it seemed to work.

Re: Google Earth to BSB / KAP

colemj,

No don't rename it just download and save it then run it. The .msi is a Windows Install extension.

Re: Google Earth to BSB / KAP

I just downloaded it on XP and Vista Computers (I have computers coming out my ears here).

The XP system had trouble downloading it the first time, but I retried and it finally got all of it.

When you click on this link: www.gdayii.ca/Downloads/GE2KAP.msi

It will ask if you want to Run or Save the file. Both seem to work but you may want to Save (or Save As) it somewhere. Either choice has to download the file which should be around 13.Meg (13,061KB). I you selected Run then the Windows Setup program will start. I you saved it, it will ask if you now want to Run it, click it to start the install.

Re: Google Earth to BSB / KAP

I clicked on the link in post 801 and it automatically downloaded just fine on my Mac...

I take it you are able to run GE2KAP on your Mac. If so, Can you tell me if this statement that I have in the Help Prerequisites section is correct (for the Mac part anyway):

Quote:
Note: It can be run on MacOSX >= V10.5 or Linux/Gtk >= V2.6 if running Windows in a virtual machine.

Re: Google Earth to BSB / KAP

I meant that I downloaded it using the Mac by simply clicking on the link.

I have had no problems running previous versions in a VM, but haven't tried this version yet. I will let you know when I have a chance to run it.

Re: Google Earth to BSB / KAP

One problem was found in GE2KAP where it added ".folder" to the chart name.
Also made these changes:
1. There is only one choice for the Windows Install ie: Complete., on that panel you can change the destination folder.
2. Added a "Launch GE2KAP" checkbox at the end of the Windows Install.
3. The first time you execute GE2KAP.exe it will run the Check.rex program to check all the prerequisites and:
- check if it can write into the current directory, this will check its not installed in the Program Files or Program Files (x86) directories.
- check if oorexx is installed.
- will start Google earth and go to Hay Bay harbor, this is so first time users don't need to do this.
- will only ask the user once to select language.
4. Added new language files for French, Spanish and Turkish.

I have uploaded a new version GE2KAP.V10.0.0.2. If you care to retest you can download it here: www.gdayii.ca/Downloads/GE2KAP.msi
I was able download it and install successfully on XP, Win 7 and windows 8
