Very easily done if you also have the header details,i.e. Two diagonal position points (lat/lon).
If not,you can use a CM93 display covering the required area and pick 4 locations which are easily recognised in both maps and input them in a calibration program.

Found it, Paul. There was an old copy of GE2KAPFUNCS in 00Rexx. It works now. Thank you for your immediate help for me, and for doing the whole GE2KAP. Fine and valuable piece of work. Problem, Paul, is that the pieces you've produced are way too good and way too useful, and therefore way too widely used. This means that lots of problems like mine, that have nothing to do intrinsically w/ the system itself and result from some user error in the computer environment but can't be figured out by users like me, are going to be widespread. Thanks much for a really great piece of navigational function, especially for places like here in Fiji where the charts can be way off from the actual reality.

I just uploaded a new version that supports Google Earth Professional.

Don't forget to turn off in GE Options General ...Terrain.. Use 3D imagery.

Also if you just upgrade OpenCPN to the latest beta version and GE2KAP says it can't find the GE2KAP plugin, restart OpenCPN.

GE2KAP 9.6.4 tests OK with OpenCPN 3.2.0 on Windows XP and 7 Ultimate.

Warning: Google Earth V7 has a problem that can cause your hard drive to fill up. Its a known problem as described here:

It got me and and another user amoung the cruising community here at Isla Mujeres Mexico. It produces thousands of files of 2K in:

C:\Users\Your Name\AppData\LocalLow\Google\GoogleEarth\unified_c ache_leveldb_leveldb2

BTW: The AppData folder is Hidden so to check it turn on View Hidden Files.

As of this date there does not seem to be a fix except to drop back to V6.2. The problem has nothing to do with GE2KAP.

Thanks for the update on GE Terry. I have installed the new version and so far seems OK but will monitor that directory.

Google has done me in again. In V7+ (the latest version) you can no longer turn off terrain. This is documented here:

Terrain - Google Earth Help

This causes bleed through problems see the attachments: In GE62_Terrain_off this is no bleed through of the dark blue. In GE62-Terrain_on there is a small amount of bleed through but GE7 there is a lot.

The only solution I have found is to drop back to V6.2 so I have uploaded it to my website if anyone else needs it: Index of /Downloads.

I think I have found a way to eliminate the problem in GE V7. Simply check the "Use high quality terrain..." in the Terrain box in Tools...Options...3D View.
