I have looked at both charts and they both have CPH/180.0 in the Kap header which is the indicator that the International Dateline (IDL) was crossed. I don't have Maxsea so I can't test it but I was able to open the Fiji-DatelineTest.kap in two other navigation programs, OziExplorer and Fugawi as well as OpenCPN with no problems.
The only thing I see different on the other chart generated with the other program is that it puts calibration points along the IDL ie at 180 degrees longitude. I have never heard that this is a prerequisite for a chart crossing the IDL but maybe it is for Maxsea. Does anyone know if this is a prereq?
I suppose you could send my chart to Maxsea and see what they say about the error.

I am going to send you a new version of GE2KAP that generates calibration points along the 180 longitude if the IDL is crossed. Please test it on MaxSea and see if it makes a difference.

I was looking for OpenCPN version 3.1.915 yesterday but only the Linux versions were available. Anyway looks like they changed the status line so I'll have to rework GE2KAP again. Will send you a new version when I have a fix.

Sorry for being off topic. Phil .. I like your signature. Look at these Who Dares Wins - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Our (USA) Special Forces motto is De oppresso liber
But things get a bit tangled in the world we now are living in so perhaps a future change will happen ??
GE2KAP 9.4.33 works fine with OpenCPN 3.0.2 and 3.1.915.
And thanks for eliminating 'Cursor:' when used with 3.1.915
Only suggestion I have for improvement is at the last screen when transparency can be adjusted. The size of the screen covers the chart and must be moved (I normally put it down) to where only the slider is visible. If possible a small screen with just the slider and 'OK' or 'Cancel' buttons would be 'mo bettah'.
I just uploaded a the new version that works with OpenCPN V3.1.915 and also fixes the Maxsea problem where a chart crosses the International Date line.
For some reason my site builder is acting up so I haven't been able to update the comment beside GE2KAP but it is the new version.
You may have to adjust the font of the status bar on OpenCPN so GE2KAP can distinguish the individual characters. I found Veranda bold, 10 works well. Also I don't support the lat/lon being Decimal Degrees only Degrees Decimal minutes and Degrees Minutes Seconds.
I'm hoping to get a plugin for OpenCPN that will eliminate all this OCR process.

I have wrote an OpenCPN plugin for GE2KAP that should eliminate the need to identify characters, not move the mouse, and set a font for the statusbar when you use the opencpn option to create a chart from the OpenCPN displayed chart.
If you would like to test this new version please send me an email and I will email it to you:

The plugin allows GE2KAP to retrieve the coordinates of the screen in a GPX file if you are creating a chart from the chart displayed on OpenCPN.
To use the plugin you must copy ge2kap_pi.dll to the OpenCPN plugins directory which is usually C:\Program Files\opencpn\plugins or C:\Program Files (x86)\opencpn\plugins.
If you have problems please send me both the GE2KAP.log and the opencpn.log.
Also, I no longer include the source for the dlls in the GE2KAP.zip. They can be downloaded from my site: DLL_Source.
