2) It don't work with other than "Decimal degrees" and not taking account characters before ":"
Whatever I entered , I got the same error . It seams to be connected with the letters , because sometime , I had to enter only "N" and "W" , and I got error .

Thanks for the feedback.

I worked with yachtvalhalla on Skype to compare his Display settings on his Asus with my Acer and changed a few setting and then retried GE2KAP and somehow during the testing, GE2KAP started displaying the characters properly on his system. But darned if we can figure out how he did it. See the before and after screenshots below. We are baffled as to how it got better. Hopefully he determine what the magic change was.

In the Control Panel ... Display

open appearance tab

click on the "Effects" button

Change the second parameter : "use the following method ..."
It should be "Clear Type" : Change to "Standard"

the result is attached

Great! Yes I changed it on the Acer to Standard and now I get the crappy display.

Now all we got to do is fix your flicker problem. Any luck on V8.1.8?

Why is it GE2KAP:

• Stable with GE2KAP v809 and GE 6.0

• Stable with GE2KAP v813 and GE 6.1

• Unstable with GE2KAP v809 and GE 6.1

• Unstable with GE2KAP v813 and GE 6.0

BTW: even on Win 7 if you turn off "Clear Type" it makes it the Identify character screen on GE2KAP much clearer. Seems to do the opposite of what its name implies.

You must use 8.15, and there no problems with GE 6.0 or 6.1

Believe me this new function was a very large piece of code and I also had to rewrite some of the base code. So I expected a lot of bugs. Thank goodness I had a lot of patient testers.

I'm going to my sailboat next week in Florida to work on fixing my engine. I'll be gone a few weeks and the place where the boat is in the middle of a swamp (mosquitoes nearly as big as the alligators) and there is no internet except at the town 20 miles away. So there may be a delay in responding to any problems.

I won't release the newest version until I get back.

Regret but same problem as with last version when using the overlay function.
After final adustments of opacity and press of OK nothing visible happens.
Clicking the minimized GE2KAP entry box shows 'Unable to find/use overlay' and
then, 'User aborted session'.

I notice in the .log dialogue that the used .png file name is distorted by the program somehow. Shows 'Sandnes_01' real filename is 'Sandnes.png'
