Galveston to Key West trip begining monday

Has anyone out there made this trip at this time of the year? Any info helpful.

That trip is best done 1-2ish days after a strong cold front passes. Reason being is that the north wind will get you south east with ease before the prevailing wind tries to dump you back in galveston.
