Ft. Myers, FL to Charleston, SC - Best route

I was just wondering if I could get some help. I am fairly new to boating.

I am moving a 1993 630 Sea Ray Super Sun Sport with twin MTU 1100. It has a 5 foot draft. I am not currently at the boat and don't have my chart plotter.

Also, does anybody have any idea what the mileage would be and my approximate fuel consumption running at approximately 15 knots.

It has an 800 gallon fuel tank. Where would I be best off to stop off for fuel. I have heard that if I go out to the gulfstream my consumption would be lower, despite the additional distance.

How long should I allow for the move?

Your help is appreciated

Can't help with specifics, sorry.

But check out the Active Captain website. It's a good resource for trip planning. You can measure the distance and check info on marinas for fuel and rest. Uses a chart display so depths are available as well.

The distance via the Okeechobee Waterway is about 500 nm. 140 of those miles are in the waterway. Don't know if you're allowed to go 15 knots in the waterway. There are locks which will slow you down.

You can do the math once you're offshore. But I would suggest you think twice or get it delivered if you're new to boating.

I need to take someone with more experience with me. Thanks for the distance and I will check out Active Captain as well.

A delivery captain would take around 10 days, will need to refuel at the end of each day. Now if you are talking this time of year or even in another month or two and weather will be a BIG factor, plus more inside passages and with a draft that large will be another problem.
