Re: Free Routing Software. qtVlm

Hi Evillen,

In qtVlm configuration, grib tab, there is an option that allows you to extend the last record (=date) of a currents grib. If checked, the last known data will be used when the grib's dates are exhausted. Which is exactly what you are asking

Concerning grib tools, also note that you can use qtVlm to merge gribs together (from the grib menu). See the documentation for more info about that (http://download.meltemus.com/qtvlm/q...ntation_en.pdf)

That is brilliant. I ticked the box and the route calculates much better now. Thank you so much.

Open it up in Chrome with the auto-translation feature.
Definitely understandable.

Re: Free Routing Software. qtVlm

Hi,

I have a problem with getting NMEA data into qtVlm from our WLAN 'server' ...
In OpenCPN it works as expected, UDP Port 10110 - the server has the IP 10.0.0.1 ...

In qtVlm I can not set the IP for UDP (in OpenCPN I can) but from the screenshot you see that I am connected to the server.

MAC OS 10.12.1, latest version of qtVlm.

What am I missing?

Thanks!

Carsten

Re: Free Routing Software. qtVlm

Hi Carsten,

What is happening if you just set the port number in UDP configuration? qtVlm in UDP mode listens to any (0.0.0.0) address so if your server is on the same LAN it should get it.

Re: Free Routing Software. qtVlm

Hi Philippe,

this is what I did (just setting the port number). No NMEA data at all ...

Sorry for the stupid question: did you click on "start NMEA" ?

Re: Free Routing Software. qtVlm

... there are no stupid questions! But yes, I did.

Really strange because I can get NMEA data with OpenCPN on the same MAC and data on tablets etc. on board, all through UDP ...

Re: Free Routing Software. qtVlm

Ok, I made a quick change to allow specifying the server address.

Can you try this build for MacOS and tell me?

@ maitai: will the o-charts be supported in qtvlm in near future? Ideally using the same key as openCPN.

We are working on S57. That is almost finished and a first version should come soon. For the rest we are full of hope of course, but one step at a time

Re: Free Routing Software. qtVlm

Could the GUI be modified a bit where the routing start / mid / end points are declared?

I always get what I want but it does not seem logical how you decide on where to start from / go thru / end up.

It is just the GUI as the software does everything find.

Great job and BIG thanks for this software.
