Erie Canal Eastbound
We will be hitting the Erie Canal sometime in the next week or so bound for New York. What's this year's thinking on the best place to unstep the mast in/around Tonawanda? We want some good (and patient) help.
The boat is a Pacific Seacraft 34 with mast height if 45 feet.

Denny Wardell is an interesting character with some old machinery to (un-) step a mast. If you have un-stepped your mast before, yourself, you should have no issue.
If you want hands-off service, find and go somewhere else.

They just don't know. It could be days and it could be another week. Check in at Notice to Mariners - New York State Canals for the most current notices including when the canal is open. Chuck

Re: Erie Canal Eastbound
Current estimate from the NY Canal Corp is another week. Not sure why that would affect trucking rates. There are options to use the Champlain Canal if the 17 foot bridge clearance can be met. Chuck

there is an american tug sitting at lock 2 right now, too high for the bridge due to water level.

Thanks guys we will make our way up there and assess once we get there.
We might still be early enough in the season to take the St Lawrence seaway in a pinch.
