CM93 1/2011 and OpenCPN
I recently downloaded a copy of the CM93 Jan 2011, unpacked it into a folder and pointed openCPN to it but it sees nothing. Zip. Nada.
I also have the LA-TX gulf coast / Gulf of Mexico BSB's from NOAA and they work just fine. So, the question is: What am I doing wrong or what is wrong with the CM93 files? I am kinda new to this so be gentle...
Like, what is supposed to be in the CM93 directories... file types (or suffixes), etc. and how does openCPN open and display them? They seem ok from what I've read but I would be the last to know for sure.
Thanks,
Fred

Re: CM93 1/2011 and openCPN
I seem to remember seeing that the 2011 won't work with OpenCPN. I have 2010, no problems with those.
Maybe someone else might confirm or otherwise??????

Have you rebuilt the database?
-->Toolbox-->Charts--> Force Full Database rebuild (at the bottom)-->ok

Re: CM93 1/2011 and OpenCPN
From the "Installing charts" docs for oCPN:
If all is just black, with maybe some blue lines, you are viewing the background world vector shoreline chart. You must move to the geographical position of the charts you just loaded.
Well, mine is all black with grid lines but no chart data. I have moved and zoomed in and out and nothing. The database was rebuilt, etc. It is a bit frustrating. Maybe tomorrow eve (tz= GMT -6hrs) I can have more time to spend troubleshooting. It acts as though the chart directory tree does not have valid data... at least, I cannot get anything displayed that remotely resembles a chart. Just black.

Jan 2011 Works fine for me as well, in fact I found the coverage much better than the 2009 edition previously installed.
With regard to the file prefix, mine just show a single letter, which I assume indicates the chart scale.

Re: CM93 1/2011 and OpenCPN
Sorry, folks... No matter what I do, the only charts that oCPN displays is the BSB files that I downloaded for the Gulf of Mexico. I am open to suggestions. I am sure that it is probably something I am doing wrong but I have been through the docs and so far, nothing.

Re: CM93 1/2011 and OpenCPN
My system:
openCPN 2.6.1227 Build 2011-12-27
Hardware i5 cpu, 4GB ram, 1TB drive (half is Win7)
OS opensuse Linux 12.1
From previous posts I am thinking that maybe I should grab oCPN 2.5 and try it.

Re: CM93 1/2011 and OpenCPN
Mystery solved!
Seems like openCPN 2.6 is not ready for prime time, at least not in my box and, since oCPN 2.5 won't run on opensuse 12.1 - something about Mesa-GL - I downloaded 2.5 for Windows and ran it in wine and CM93 works ok.
Thanks to all for the help.
