Check Out This Computer Monitor!

I have been waiting for a year for someone to come out with this. A large USB powered monitor to hook up to my tiny power efficient netbook to use as a chartplotter. A big screen, easily portable to multiple locations on the boat, very low power draw, no dealing with varying voltages. Toshiba finally did it and cost effectively to boot!

I wonder how well it could be waterproofed...

Epoxy is magic, mate!

But the other thing is how readable it is in bright light.

Samsung has another in the pipeline, it is claimed to be based on OLED. Some Samsung digital frames can back up as portable monitors and are USB fed already.

Since it uses the split cable you can guess that it will use between 1-2 USB max capacity. Not any less that the screen of your laptop will if same size.

How about the Galaxy Tablet? A friend of mine just picked one up and it really does seem perfect for a boat.
