Re: Chartbook for BC coast?

Be sure to put a big circle around Stacys Rock up in the Desolation Sound!

Re: Chartbook for BC coast?

Thanks. Likewise, don't go too near the north tip of Guemes Island.

Even though I now have a depth alarm, I'm still going to keep my distance from shorelines!

Construct a danger bearing and this and other unmarked hazards.

It's a 1/4 mile off shore. At mid to high tide this rock is 6' (2m) under the surface, unlike the green it shows on charts. It's been hit so many times it's actually white, probably from all the lead left behind.

The green portion of the chart covers and uncovers with the tide, which is 5.5 meters in Desolation Sound. At LLWLT Stacey Rock is 3.4 meters above the water, at HHWLT (5.5 mters above chart datum) Stacey Rock is 2.1 meters below the surface. Reading the chart and accounting for the tide tells you that.

From Chart 1

Drying heights above chart datum

Rock which covers and uncovers, with height known or unknown above chart datum.

I would suggest that it is hit by folks who do not understand chart datum, tides, and chart symbols.

Yes, I am aware of your circumstance.
