Canīt afford that 10" Android pad yet?

Well, donīt despair. Hereīs a way to view your pod like a pad on your own laptop/PC. Throw away that magnifying glass before you fall overboard..

Seriously though... just installed a marvelous new app called BlueStacks Cloud on my Galaxy S II smartphone, accompanied by BlueStacks PC installer.

The program copies over all your installed programs and makes those Android apps run on your laptop/PC. You can select display in pod or pad size.

And,the best of all,the basic version is all FREE.

Pretty slick! MX Mariner and OruxMaps sure are easier to operate and see.

I am waiting to buy a tablet. The next Asus Transformer Pad will hopefully be 64gb or 128gb.

Thanks Tore

Jim..

The only problem is,I canīt get my OruxMaps or Marine Navigator to find my maps or
my transparent .png icons. Perhaps BlueStacks is unable to display .kap or transparent bitmaps? Did YOU manage??

I can also recommend AirDroid,a great file transfer program.

Love my Asus TF-300 with dock. I couldn't wait for the 64gb version so I bought the 32 and installed a 32 microsd.

I am writing this from a nexus tab from Google. Does everything you're larger tabs do at half the price.

Actually no I did not Tore but I have not tried either. I will later just for the heck of it. My orux charts are converted kaps so I see myself just using OpenCPN.

I will report back with any info.

Re: Canīt afford that 10" Android pad yet?

Jim..

BlueStacks recognizes ONE off-line map īWorldmapī which is the same type as any OruxMaps Desktop converted map. It also during my first installation attempt,
displayed the standard cursor icons in transparent .png mode.

There is also a directory to be searched, mnt/sdcard/oruxmaps/cursors/ but I can not
find the external_sd paths to my removable card. I also donīt know where BlueStacks saves/stores the various data files (maps/cursors/tracks)

OruxMaps will be a great program to use from a tablet,or use PocketCloud to run OpenCPN on your tablet, with your laptop connected via WLAN safely below deck.

Re: Canīt afford that 10" Android pad yet?

After a long search among dozens of apps,I have FINALLY found a great app+desktop controller to be able to give full control to my laptop/PC to run all the apps on my Galaxy with a display around four times larger than the Galaxy or even full screen. I can use the keyboard and the mouse.
Works perfectly,I have tested most of my installed apps.

This is really an extension of an old facility to remotely control PCīs for technical assistance etc where a smartphone also now is accepted as īa PCī.

NON COMMERCIAL USE IS FREE !!! I suppose they will cut the connection if you use it for any commercial purpose. But business owners also have a private life I guess...

You download a PC based server as well as a smartphone app which gives the key and connection permission. Easy to use...

Youīll find it all here: www.teamviewer.com

My 10" Android tablets aboard [two of them] cost me only $80 each . They are made by Vimicro. That's pretty affordable.

Lucky you!! Here in Brazil you pay the equivalent of US$ 700.- or 10 times more for a Samsung 10.1" Galaxy

Where did you source those? I looked at the Vimicro site, and they don't even list them as being made.

I found my Vimicro Superpads on Craig's list. I've seen them on E-Bay , as well , but for around $125.

Re: Canīt afford that 10" Android pad yet?

I see those Vimicros have a resistive screen instead of capacitive. Do you need to press with a stick, or does a finger touch do it? How hard do you have to press?

My only experience with a resistive screen was several years ago with an early smartphone . . . a bit of a pain. But maybe resistive screen have improved?
