Can I convert C-Map 93 to C-Map Max?

Thanks, I agree they are a good source in general.
My remarks about costs was more on a general note and less so relating to us.
I am just not that fond of people who just see what's on their plate in life.

Franziska, here is an update.

The item arrived with a brand name ONWA. I tried to use CM-93 on the SD card - no luck.

To my surprise, ONWA provide FREE charts called K-Charts at ONWA Marine Electronics Co. Ltd. -

Now I have AIS transponder, GPS and a chartplotter with FREE K-charts.

I don't know where they are. I just finished a 3,000 mile trip through Indonesia and am currently in Malaysia. So I have a pretty good feel for the quality of CMap charts vs CM93 bootlegs, having looked at both of them 100s of times over the past few months. The updated charts are unquestionably better. There are still some areas with offsets, very few that we found, and some bays that are very lightly surveyed. All in all, the charts are good.

^^^^^^^ fair enough, I wasn't fussed on stumping up $500+ on charts that are no better than what we have but if you reckon they are definitely an improvement I'll do it.

Upside to that is that our Seiwa chart plotter will be back in play in those waters running opencpn on a second monitor.
